The choice for cornelius commissioner

Together We can!

As a citizen, he stood up for you. He can do more for the town of Cornelius if he becomes your Commissioner

Kurt Naas, leader of the citizens group WidenI77 that has opposed the I-77 toll project since 2012, is a candidate for Cornelius Commissioner. Years of fighting the I-77 tolls made it clear we need elected officials who will listen to citizens, carefully research the issues, and stand firm on convictions. When he formed WidenI77 in 2012 most elected officials in the region were convinced tolls were the only answer. Today, as a result of his efforts and scores of others who joined the cause, all North Mecklenburg towns and the counties of Mecklenburg and Iredell have passed resolutions opposing the project.

Kurt has been a resident of Cornelius since 2005 and owns a manufacturing business also located in Cornelius. He has been married to Maria for 28 years and they  have one son (who is a two-time Golden Gloves boxing champion!), and attend Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church in Charlotte.

Kurt began his professional career as an Aerospace Engineer with General Dynamics Space Systems, where he worked on the guidance platform for the Atlas rocket and Centaur upper stage. He has held executive level positions at Allied Signal, where he led the global product support launch of their microturbine business, and Honeywell and Ingersoll Rand, where he had profit-and-loss responsibility of over $100M.
